How to survive festival season (Clue: eat with The English Indian)

We love festival season here at The English Indian, and you’ll find our team out and about at festivals up and down the country all through the summer months, making sure all you hungry revellers are well fuelled for a weekend of festival fun. We’ve already fed the masses at an incredible Glastonbury and are busy preparing for the next instalment in our packed festival calendar!

Summer sunshine and festivals are just made for each other – but this is the UK which, let’s face it, means there’s as much chance of downpours and mud baths as there is of sunny skies. It’s also been three years since most of us have graced a festival field due to the cancellation of events throughout the pandemic, so if you’re heading to an event this season, we’ve got some top tips to help you survive whatever festival life throws at you!…

Invest in a good tent…

While a pretty pop-up number might seem like a good idea at the time, the realities of festival camping mean that the better your tent, the more comfortable you’ll be. And while you may think your tent will literally be the place you rest your head in the wee small hours, remember that festival burn-out is real. And having a comfy, completely watertight, un-sauna-like, place to retreat for a party nap will mean you can enjoy festival life to the max – fully rested and raring to go.

Don’t forget your toothbrush…

Or your loo roll – these essentials should be top of your packing list! Let’s face it, festival showers aren’t up to much, so a good teeth-brushing will go a long way towards making you feel fresher. And have you seen those portaloos? Come on, you know packing loo roll makes sense.

Sturdy footwear is a must…

While your favourite sandals or white trainers might seem like a good idea when it’s scorching hot and the ground is baked, just say no. Trusty hiking boots or comfy, broken-in wellies are the best options for covering those festival miles while keeping your feet cosy and dry, whatever the weather.

Choose your food wisely…

There’s nothing worse than spending hours of your precious festival time queuing for food – especially when you get to the front and discover you’ve missed a brilliant band for some soggy chips or a dodgy jacket potato which sets you back a week’s wage! But never fear; there is plenty of amazing food to be found (ahem, you may have heard of us!)… Our signature pakora-battered fish ‘n’ chips, bangin’ halloumi or delicious artichoke vegan vish ‘n’ chips with all the trimmings is all you need to fuel your festival revelry.

The good news is that you can catch us at a whole host of festivals throughout summer, including Beat-Herder, Womad, Underneath the Stars, Lakefest and more! Hope to see you there!
